behind kleia ceramics

hi! my name is dallia – welcome to my piece of universe. as a social worker who needed a relaxing hobby, i’ve started taking ceramics classes and revealed all the beauty of this ancient trade.

with time, and with love and support from my husband teo and our dog tia, i’ve decided to quit my job and start work autonomously – which brings us together in this moment.

oh, and why the name kleia – well it’s a play on the word clay, of course!

inspiration of kleia studio

connection with nature is the focus of my work which is translated into ceramics making. the ancients believed the world to be composed of 4 basic elements – fire, water, air, and earth.

ceramics is all about these four elements. the earth gives us clay to work with. water then plays a key role to make it softer and give it a shape. air is important for the drying process. lastly, fire make it timeless, revealing the colors and  surprising effects on the ceramics.

this interesting concept of elements, nature, geometry and playfulness is what I’m trying to portray in my work.

focus of kleia products

kleia ceramic studio is focused on making ceramics from natural materials and environment safe glazes. sustainable living and ecological awareness are a priority for me. it’s a must that my products follow that concept.

renewable and recycled materials, which clay is, are the basics of my product. I want to reduce negative impact on the environment by not using plastics, even in packaging. all colors and glazes used are lead free.

get inspired with me

we are inspired by returning to a simpler way of living. making ceramics like they used to – by hand, without using pottery wheel or other machines. by doing that, I create interesting, perfectly imperfect products. that also means that every item is unique and different from the other.

i hope you’ll find something of your liking and you will enjoy it as much as i enjoyed making it.
